Hong Kong won’t rush embodied AI laws, cites existing rules | MLex

By Yonnex Li ( June 3, 2026, 07:39 GMT | Insight) — Hong Kong has no plans to immediately enact laws regulating embodied artificial intelligence, instead relying on existing regulations while monitoring the technology’s evolution, the city’s tech chief told lawmakers Wednesday. The approach contrasts with mainland China, where Hangzhou in May became the first city to introduce embodied AI legislation covering data use, safety responsibilities and testing protocols.Hong Kong has no plans to immediately enact laws regulating embodied artificial intelligence, with the government instead relying on existing regulations while monitoring the technology’s evolution, the city’s tech chief told lawmakers Wednesday….
