Turin, Italy – Spaniard Eugenio Lopez Chacara advanced to third place in the “Race to Dubai” classification in the DB World Golf Tour, according to the world rankings issued on Monday. Who continued his brilliance by winning his second consecutive title, after winning the Italian Open Championship, which concluded on Monday at the Circolo Golf Club in Turin. This comes after he won the Dutch Open title in early June.

Chakara raised his score to 2107 points after adding 585 new points thanks to his victory in the tournament. To approach American Patrick Reed, leader of the “Race to Dubai” standings with 2,690 points. Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, the title holder, is in second place with 2269 points.

continued success

The Spanish player was crowned with merit, after finishing the tournament with a total of 24 strokes under par. Scoring 66, 65, 65 and 64 hits in the four rounds. He is five strokes ahead of Englishman Matt Wallace, who finished runner-up with 19 under par.

Chacara, who was born in the Spanish capital Madrid, continues to write his success story on the golf course, after turning to the sport following a wrist injury that ended his ambitions as a football player. Before steadily making his way towards competing for the biggest world titles.

The victory also secured the Spanish player’s participation in the 154th edition of the British Open. Scheduled for next month at Royal Birkdale Club.

Strong competitions

The competition continues strongly this season in the “Race to Dubai”, which brings together the world’s elite golf stars in an effort to qualify for the final qualifiers hosted by the UAE next November. The top 70 players in the rankings will qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links Stadium during the period from 5 to 8 November 2026. Before the top 50 players qualify for the final tournament of the “DB World” round at Jumeirah Real Estate Golf Club during the period from November 12 to 15.

The Italian Open was the twenty-fourth stop on the season’s calendar. Which is held under the slogan “The Race to Dubai” and includes 42 championships in 25 countries around the world. This week, all eyes are on the “BMW” German Open, which marks the conclusion of this season’s European Championship series.
