McKinley Wright IV will remain under contract with Dubai for the next three seasons, the club announced on Thursday.

Wright, who joined the club from Buducnost at the start of last season, had an outstanding season in the EuroLeague and was a true team leader, leading them to a 3-1 victory over Partizan and winning the ABA League.

Additionally, Dubai had a good debut in the EuroLeague, but they just missed out on making the playoffs or Play-In.

In the elite competition, Wright averaged 12.7 points, 6.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and a PIR of 16.8.

Dubai’s announcement

Dubai Basketball has extended the contract of McKinley Wright IV until 2029, securing the future of one of the team’s most influential players. Despite already being under contract for the 2026/27 season, both sides agreed to extend their partnership following an outstanding campaign. In his debut EuroLeague season, Wright established himself as one of the competition’s top point guards, averaging 12.7 points, 6.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds and a PIR of 16.8. He also led the team in appearances this season, playing a total of 69 games: 38 in the EuroLeague, 29 in the ABA League and 2 in the VTB SuperCup.

The American floor general delivered several memorable performances throughout the season. He recorded an impressive 15 assists against Anadolu Efes, one of the highest single-game totals in the EuroLeague this season, while his best performance came against Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he posted a PIR of 42. His ability to control the game, create for teammates and perform in key moments made him a cornerstone of Dubai Basketball’s first EuroLeague campaign.

Wright was equally important in the ABA League, averaging 8.8 points and 4.7 assists per game while helping lead Dubai Basketball to the 2025/26 ABA League title. A true leader on the court, his extension represents another important step in the club’s long-term project and ensures one of its key players remains at the heart of the team for years to come.
