Hong Kong bookseller Lam Wing-kee passes away, report says

2 luglio (Reuters) – Il libraio di Hong Kong Lam Wing-kee, fuggito a Taiwan per timore di persecuzioni da parte della Cina, è deceduto all’età di 70 anni, secondo quanto riportato giovedì dal South China Morning Post, che cita i media taiwanesi.

Lam aveva chiesto asilo a Taiwan nel 2019 dopo essere stato arrestato da agenti cinesi nel 2015 mentre lavorava in una libreria di Hong Kong che vendeva opere critiche nei confronti della leadership cinese.

Lam era stato ricoverato martedì al Mackay Memorial Hospital di Taipei, ma le sue condizioni sono peggiorate ed è entrato in coma, secondo quanto riportato dal South China Morning Post citando i media locali. Il decesso è stato dichiarato giovedì sera, aggiunge l’articolo.
