This expansion marks a significant step in the firm’s international growth strategy and will be its first office in the Middle East, located in the innovative DIFC Square development. The new branch will begin operations with the addition of three notable lateral partners: Michael Morris, Michael Ducker, and Mark Beswetherick, all joining from Clyde & Co. Together, they bring over 40 years of experience and strong client connections in the region.

Michael Morris, returning to DAC Beachcroft after establishing a prominent litigation practice at Clyde & Co., has a deep expertise in commercial and professional liability claims. He relocated to the UAE in 2015 and has since gained recognition for his work in trade credit and political risk insurance. Meanwhile, Michael Ducker, formerly the co-head of Clyde & Co.’s Healthcare Group, is known for advising key stakeholders in the healthcare and insurance sectors, handling matters such as medical malpractice and public liability claims.

Mark Beswetherick, who has also made a comeback to DAC Beachcroft, previously led the Insurance and Dispute Resolution Group in Dubai at Clyde & Co. His focus on arbitration and international litigation positions him to handle complex, multi-jurisdictional insurance disputes, along with professional negligence cases and director and officer liability matters.

Gustavo Blanco, DACB’s Head of International Business, expressed excitement at the upcoming arrivals, stating “We are looking forward to welcoming Mike Morris and Mark back to DACB later this year and to have Mike Ducker joining us at what will be such a pivotal moment in our growth.” He believes this team brings a well-established reputation and will provide immediate credibility in the market as the firm looks to bolster its presence.

Helen Faulkner, Managing Partner at DACB, highlighted the strategic importance of the Dubai office, noting, “Opening in the Middle East has long been a strategic priority for the firm. Dubai is a gateway to the region and a global centre not only for insurance, but also for healthcare.” This new location aims to offer clients the highest level of service, maintaining the firm’s commitment to seamless cross-border capabilities and collaborative culture.

Mike Morris, keen to contribute to the firm’s ambitions in the Middle East, added, “Having started my career at DACB, I have seen first-hand the firm’s commitment to excellence and client service. Together, we will build a Middle East practice that is ambitious, collaborative, and fully aligned with the needs of global insurers, reinsurers, and healthcare clients operating in the region.”

DAC Beachcroft’s expansion into Dubai follows its recent growth in the US, including new offices in Miami after openings in New York and Los Angeles. The firm has also entered Hong Kong and Lima, creating strategic associations with leading firms across Ecuador and Australia, signifying a robust trajectory of international development
