Looking for a different way to celebrate Merdeka this year? Rapid KL is bringing back its Eksplorasi Merdeka Rapid KL 4.0 (EMRKL4.0), giving Malaysians a chance to explore Kuala Lumpur while putting their knowledge, creativity and teamwork to the test.

The fourth edition of the exploration challenge will take place on September 5, 2026, starting at Putra Heights Station, as part of the National Month celebrations.

More Than Just A City Exploration

Unlike a typical sightseeing trip, EMRKL4.0 combines Rapid KL’s rail and bus network with a series of challenges, quizzes and interactive activities at selected locations around Kuala Lumpur. Participants will get the opportunity to discover some of the capital’s iconic landmarks while learning more about its history, heritage and cultural diversity.

The challenges are also designed to encourage participants to think creatively, work together and use their general knowledge as they collect points throughout the exploration.

A Merdeka Celebration On The Move

The event also carries a special significance this year as Putra Heights Station marks the starting point, connecting the Kelana Jaya Line with the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line.

The choice of location also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Malaysia’s first LRT line, highlighting the development of the country’s public transport system over the past three decades. Through the event, Rapid KL aims to strengthen its connection with the community while giving participants a different way to experience Kuala Lumpur and its heritage.

Stand A Chance To Win Cash Prizes

For those who enjoy a little friendly competition, there is also plenty to look forward to.

Registration costs RM250 per team, excluding registration system charges, with more than RM13,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. Participants can also stand a chance to win additional prizes through lucky draws.

Registration is open until August 23, 2026.

So, if you are looking for a fun way to spend Merdeka season with your friends while discovering more about Kuala Lumpur, EMRKL4.0 could be one adventure worth adding to your list.
