Rory McIlroy might have missed out on top prize at the DP World Tour Championship, but his 2025 earnings are still staggering.
The Northern Irishman came agonisingly close to the perfect end to an historic year at the season-ending tournament in Dubai, as he lost out to Matt Fitzpatrick in a thrilling play-off finale.

McIlroy forced the decider with a final-hole eagle, but Fitzpatrick kept his cool when it mattered to bag the $3m (£2.2m) winners’ reward.
Despite this, it was success all round, as McIlroy’s exploits were enough to clinch a fourth straight Race to Dubai title.
It was also a seventh year-end title for the 36-year-old, putting him just one behind Colin Montgomerie overall, who boasts eight.
This saw him pocket the $2m (£1.5m) bonus prize, while he topped this up with a cool $1.27m for finishing second at the Jumeirah Golf Estate – making it quite the pay day.

How much has Rory McIlroy earned in 2025?
It’s fair to say 2025 has been an sensational year for McIlroy, who completed the career Grand Slam with his stunning Masters victory in April.
And it has certainly been a lucrative one too, with his total on-course prize money now standing at more than $35m (£26.5m) altogether.
Of this, McIlroy has amassed $16,9m (£12.9m) in PGA Tour official prize money, including majors.
His Masters triumph accounts for a large chunk of this, as he banked $4.2m after clinching his fifth major in Augusta.

In February, McIlroy took the £2.9m prize with victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California.

He followed this up with a second Players Championship title at Sawgrass in March, beating JJ Spaun in a play-off to land a massive $4.5m (£3.4m) for first place.
McIlroy’s early-season victories took his career earnings on the PGA Tour over the $100m mark, which now stand at just shy of $108m.
It’s the taking part that counts
Overall, the world no.2 has participated in 16 events on the PGA Tour this season, only twice finishing outside the top 25.
He boasts three victories and eight top-10 finishes on the tour in 2025, and his consistency has proved profitable.
The golf star has raked in an additional $13.5m (£10.2m) in PGA Tour bonus money this year.
This includes his second place finish in the FedEx Cup overall rankings, which included a a $7.5m (£5.7m) bonus payout from the FedEx Cup playoffs fund.

Beyond this, McIlroy also ranked second in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 – a PGA Tour bonus program that rewards the top 10 players based on their performance during the regular season.
His reward for finishing second here was a $6m prize, while his DP World Tour exploits account for the rest of his annual earnings.
McIlroy clinched the Irish Open to continue his fairytale season in September, bagging $1.02m in the process.
He supplemented this with $788,175 for a tied-second place finish at the Scottish Open, and then narrowly missed out on the play-offs at last week’s Abu Dhabi Championship, pocketing an extra $569,628.
And McIlroy’s end of season exploits have now taken his DP World Tour prize money in 2025 to $3.38m (£2.57m).
On top of this, his earnings at the DP World Tour finale means that, for the fourth time this year, McIlroy has raked in more than $3m in a week, with only his Masters victory and his PGA Tour wins at Sawgrass and Pebble Beach surpassing his winnings over the last seven days.
