Burgundy Fashion Is the Richest Colour Trend to Wear in Autumn

If there is one colour dominating wardrobes this season, it is burgundy. Deep, rich and infinitely more versatile than it first appears, the wine-inspired shade has become fashion’s answer to dressing with impact without relying on brighter hues. From oxblood leather and merlot tailoring to cherry-toned dresses and dark red accessories, burgundy fashion is proving that neutral territory does not have to mean beige, black or grey.

The appeal lies in its ability to feel both classic and directional. Burgundy has long been associated with autumn dressing, but its latest resurgence sees the colour styled in fresher, less predictable ways. A burgundy blazer can instantly elevate a simple pair of jeans, while a leather skirt or pair of knee-high boots offers an easy alternative to the usual black staples. For those looking to make more of a statement, head-to-toe burgundy is one of the season’s most polished approaches to colour dressing.

The shade also works surprisingly well across different textures. Think glossy patent leather, soft suede, satin, cashmere and velvet, all of which bring out a different dimension of its deep red tones. A burgundy handbag or pair of shoes can be an easy entry point, particularly for anyone who prefers to keep their wardrobe palette understated. The colour pairs naturally with black, chocolate brown, cream and camel, but can also look striking alongside powder pink, icy blue or even a pop of red.
