Aditi Krishnapriyan

Aditi S. Krishnapriyan, assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, has received the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award.

Dr. Krishnapriyan’s award-winning research advances one of the College of Chemistry’s core pillars: unlocking information for transformational discovery. Modern breakthroughs, whether they are designing clean energy materials or accelerating targeted drug discovery, depend on accurately predicting how matter behaves at the atomic level. However, scientists are traditionally forced to choose between the high accuracy of quantum mechanics and the speed needed to simulate complex systems.

Dr. Krishnapriyan’s CAREER project bridges this divide by developing novel, physics-inspired machine learning frameworks. By developing methods to learn generalizable representations from large-scale data and leveraging empirical neural scaling laws to guide AI model design, her work will enable large-scale simulations across much longer length and time scales without sacrificing precision, unlocking new computational paradigms that will accelerate discoveries.

Integral to this recognition is Dr. Krishnapriyan’s commitment to education. The award supports her vision to build an interdisciplinary workforce by creating cross-disciplinary curricula and specialized training programs, equipping students at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and computer science with the tools to lead the future of scientific discovery.
