A man and a girl were seriously injured when their pickup truck fell from an elevated expressway in Ratchathewi district, Bangkok, early Sunday morning.

The incident happened on Sri Rat expressway above Rom Ratchathewi public park on Ratchadapan (Mor Leng) Road in Makkasan sub-district at 4.30am.

The grey pickup truck with 3 Thor Ngo 2087 licence plates registered in Bangkok fell on to a pile of concrete scraps. Severely injured in the vehicle were a man driver aged about 30-35 and a girl aged 3-4. Rescue workers rushed them to hospital.

A construction worker who was an eyewitness said he heard a loud crash on a concrete barrier on the elevated expressway and saw the pickup fell on the concrete pile. He said that the driver got off the pickup with a bleeding face while the injured girl was trapped inside the vehicle.

On the expressway, police found traces of the crash on a concrete barrier at a Y-shaped junction on the elevated expressway. Investigation continued. Police assumed the truck ran at a high speed before the accident.

Rescue workers help the injured at the crash scene.
