MEDAN – The Medan Police Narcotics Unit seized 24 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden behind the wall of a car and allegedly to be sent from Aceh to Jakarta.

Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Medan Police, AKBP Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, said the disclosure was the result of the development of a case of seizure of two kilograms of methamphetamine in the Medan Sunggal area about six months ago.

“From the development results, we obtained information about the delivery of methamphetamine from Aceh to Jakarta, which was carried by a man with the initials FS (25),” he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 24.

Following up on this information, officers conducted an investigation and detected the perpetrator’s vehicle passing on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, in the Asahan Regency area.

When he was about to be stopped, the perpetrator tried to escape so that a chase took place on the toll road. The perpetrator then left the car on the side of the road and ran into an area of oil palm plantations.

“The perpetrator left the car on the road and fled to the oil palm plantation area. After being chased, the officers managed to arrest the perpetrator,” said Rafli.

During the initial examination, officers did not find any evidence. However, after a more thorough examination, officers found 24 packets of methamphetamine hidden in various parts of the car’s wall.

Rafli explained that the methamphetamine was stored on the luggage wall, the front passenger door wall, and the back passenger door wall to deceive officers during vehicle inspections.

“All the 24 kilograms of methamphetamine were hidden behind the wall of the car so that it would not be easily detected during the inspection,” he said.

Polrestabes Medan is still developing the case to uncover the network of narcotics circulation suspected of being involved in the delivery of methamphetamine from Aceh to Jakarta.

The perpetrator and the evidence have been secured at the Narcotics Unit of the Medan Police to undergo legal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations.
