inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police revealed that a woman with the initials J, who was previously reported as a kidnapping victim in the Mangga Besar area, is suspected of having left Indonesia for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the day after the reported incident.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Superintendent Roby Heri Saputra, stated that investigators obtained this information based on a passenger manifest received by the police.
“The incident occurred on the 13th. On the 14th, the woman in question was in Semarang, leaving Indonesia for Kuala Lumpur, according to the manifest we received, along with two other people known to be related to J,” Roby said in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/22/2026).
However, Roby emphasized that investigators are still investigating whether the reported incident constituted a crime.
“We are still conducting a series of activities to determine whether this incident was a crime,” he said.
According to Roby, based on the preliminary investigation, there is evidence to support the incident of someone forcibly taking J to a car.
“It is true that an incident occurred as reported, namely, four or five people forcibly taking the victim, J, into a car,” he said.
Investigators have also questioned several witnesses who were at the scene. However, efforts to examine CCTV footage have been unsuccessful because no cameras were found pointing at or recording the incident.
Currently, investigators are still scheduled to question two relatives who allegedly traveled with J abroad, including J’s father, to clarify the sequence of events.
Furthermore, police are still investigating the motive behind the reported incident.
