The rapid growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area provides fertile ground and vast space for deepening exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong province and Taiwan, according to Huang Kunming, the provincial Party chief.
“The development of the Greater Bay Area has gained momentum and is progressing well, accumulating strong potential energy and possessing robust strength,” he said during a meeting with business representatives from Taiwan in Guangzhou on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Huang outlined plans for the province”s economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) and sought opinions and suggestions for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Taiwan to better serve and support the development of Taiwan people and enterprises.
“We hope that Taiwan compatriots and enterprises seize the rare historical opportunity to deeply participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area,” he said.
Guangdong, an economic powerhouse in South China, will accelerate implementation of a series of favorable policies from the central and provincial governments that aim to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.
The province’s vigorous development of new productive forces in technology and industry also provides better conditions to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Taiwan, Huang said.
“We are looking forward to greater participation from Taiwan people and enterprises to tackle key core technologies and advance the coordination and support of industrial and supply chains,” he said.
