Twenty-four-year-old emerging singer-songwriter and self-proclaimed witch Mixol is a cult-inspired art-pop artist crafting immersive, multi-platform experiences. Born and raised in Beijing, Mixol seamlessly blends languages and cultures in her artistry. Citing the “four mothers of her creation” — Björk, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, and Sheena Ringo — as primary influences, these inspirations shape the whimsical, witchy sonic world of The Fool, her debut EP, due for release June 15th.
Following tracks, “we jump, our carnival” and “mixologist,” today, Mixol shares “bibiboobiboo,” a quirky and epic track that tells a story and sounds like a crossover between No Doubt and Kate Bush with Mixol’s own unique twist. “bibiboobiboo,” follows two young girls in love, but one takes a time machine to see what happened in the other’s past. The result is jealousy, heartbreak, and revenge, disguised by the single’s whimsical, upbeat nature.
Accompanied by a blend of animated and cinematic visuals, Mixol’s talent for world-building is on full display, inviting listeners deeper into her magical, twisted universe.
Blending orchestral soundscapes, sharp metaphors, and theatrical pop instincts, the EP feels expansive and cinematic — bold and emotionally unfiltered. Visually, the project extends into 8-bit, kawaii-creepy narrative games tied to each track, alongside cult film–inspired content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Rooted in tarot, The Fool unfolds as a fully realized creative universe — one Mixol is ready to reveal. “bibiboobiboo” is just one chapter in her folktale world, where the real and fantastical constantly overlap.
“bibiboobiboo” is out May 22nd. The Fool LP is out June 24th.
