A data center project in Jakarta belonging to LG Sinar Mas – a joint venture formed by the South Korean and Indonesian conglomerates LG and Sinar Mas – was topped out on Saturday.

The first phase of the SMX01 data center, offering 6MW of IT capacity, is set to be ready for service in Q4 2026, according to PT SMPlus Digital Investment (SM+), a digital infrastructure platform backed by Sinar Mas.

A spokesperson from SM+ also DCD that the data center would offer 27MW of IT capacity at completion, with the second phase offering 20MW of capacity.

South Korean real estate and infrastructure firm Korea Investment Real Asset Management is also backing the project.

SM+ previously announced that the facility would be optimized for AI and high-density workloads, featuring liquid cooling and reliable power.

Plans for the project were first announced in September 2024. At the time, the project was set to see $300 million of investment.

It will be located in Jakarta’s Central Business District.

Previous reports from when the project broke ground in March 2025 alleged that the facility would offer an initial capacity of 18MW, but these numbers remain unconfirmed.

DCD has reached out to SM+ and LG Sinar Mas for more information.

Sinar Mas is one of Indonesia’s largest conglomerates, and it has business interests in paper, agri-business, financial services, real estate development, communications, technology, energy, infrastructure, and healthcare.

Update:

This article has been updated to include details about the project’s capacity.
