Brazil’s civil aviation authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC) has resumed all activities suspended in early June following a budget freeze, after the Ministries of Ports and Airports and Planning and Budget transferred BRL25 million reais (USD4.9 million) to the regulator. All aircraft certification and regulatory oversight activities, including crew and mechanic certification, will resume. Layoffs of outsourced workers have been reversed.
“During the budget freeze, ANAC prioritised available resources to maintain essential civil aviation activities. The safety of commercial flights operated by airlines was not affected during this period,” ANAC said in a statement.
