The cheapest countries to visit from Delhi this June offer a chance to pack a lot into a short, affordable escape. Thailand greets travellers with lush mangroves, paddy fields and vibrant cultural events like the Phi Ta Khon Festival. Nepal in June makes for an off-beat experience, dodging the crowds and going temple-hopping through Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, diving into servings of dahi-chiura (yoghurt and beaten rice) during the paddy harvest festivals or immersing yourself in one of its many wellness retreats. Malaysia, by contrast, is all bright and sunny, perfect for a coastal getaway, to go snorkelling and diving in the Perhentian Islands or for a hill station stay at the Cameron Highlands.

June in Nepal is for slower itineraries, ones brimming with cafe hopping, temple visits and lots of staying in and slurping on steaming bowls of thukpa as the rain patters on the windows. With lesser footfall, this time around the year if you are up for braving the rains, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore all the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley, hillstations of Nagarkot and the Chitwan National Park for spotting wildlife like tigers and one-horned rhinos, without running into swarms of tourists.
