As global competition intensifies around critical minerals, industrial supply chains, and energy security, Africa is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most strategically important mining regions — and Mining On Top Africa (MOTA) 2026 is set to place these conversations firmly at the centre of the international agenda.
Taking place on 7–8 July 2026 at the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel, Paris, France, MOTA 2026 arrives at a pivotal moment for the mining industry.
Copper prices remain supported by long-term electrification demand, uranium markets continue to strengthen amid renewed investment in nuclear energy, and governments around the world are racing to secure stable supplies of critical minerals essential for batteries, renewable energy infrastructure, electric mobility, and advanced manufacturing. Across Africa, this is driving renewed exploration activity, project development, infrastructure investment, and growing international competition for strategic partnerships.
At the same time, African governments are increasingly focused on ensuring that natural resources deliver broader economic transformation — through local beneficiation, industrialisation, regional infrastructure, energy integration, and stronger national participation across mining value chains.
Held under the theme: “Securing Africa’s Mining Future: Sovereignty, Sustainability and Global Partnerships”, MOTA 2026 will convene Ministers, mining companies, investors, development finance institutions, geological organisations, technology providers, OEMs, traders, and strategic partners from across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
The Summit will provide a high-level platform for dialogue around the future of mining investment, mineral sovereignty, financing, ESG, critical minerals supply chains, and Africa’s growing influence within global industrial development.
Among the high-level speakers already confirmed are:
- H.E. Eddi Ould Zein – Minister of Mines and Industry, Islamic Republic of Mauritania
- Namrata Thapar – Director, Metals & Minerals, World Bank Group
- Jean-Claude Guillaneau – Director General, Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM)
- Seydou Moussa Kone – Director General, SODEMI
- Martino De Ciccio – Chief Executive Officer, Montage Gold
- Ignacio de Calonje – Chief Investment Officer, Energy, World Bank Group
- Boubacar Ousmane Mbaye – President, Chamber of Mines, Senegal
- Francois Phopho Kamano – Executive Director, Chamber of Mines, Guinea
- Patrice L’Huiller – Chief Executive Officer, Nimba Mining Company
- Louis Marechal – Senior Adviser: Minerals & Extractives, OECD
- Sheraz Neffati – Executive Director, International Chromium Development Association (ICDA)
- Dr Chukwuemeka (Chux) Onaa, Regional Manager, Africa and North America Standardisation, VDMA
- Dr Sean Xun – Acting Chief, Global Minerals Analysis Section, National Minerals Information Center, U.S. Geological Survey,
- Plus Representatives from AFC ALSF among others.
Additional Ministers, mining executives, financial institutions, chambers of mines, and international organisations will be announced in the coming weeks as participation continues to grow.
This year’s programme will explore some of the most important issues shaping the sector today — from critical minerals and copper supply chains to financing Africa’s mining future, regional infrastructure corridors, energy integration, ESG and responsible mining, as well as value addition and downstream industrial development.
Dedicated Country Focus Sessions will also provide governments and mining stakeholders with a platform to present investment opportunities, mining reforms, industrial ambitions, and strategic projects directly to international investors and partners.
Paris continues to serve as a strategic gateway connecting African resource opportunities with European and international capital markets, development finance institutions, technology providers, and industrial partners. Over the years, MOTA has evolved into a trusted platform where African mining opportunities connect directly with global investment and expertise.
The Summit is proudly supported by a growing network of sponsors and partners. SODEMI joins MOTA 2026 as Gold Sponsor, with ALSF confirmed as Bronze Sponsor and Montage Gold as Associate Sponsor. Strategic partnerships with organisations including IMnI, ICDA, MEDEF International, VDMA, and CIAN further reinforce the Summit’s international industry reach and technical expertise.
With geopolitical competition around critical minerals continuing to intensify and investors increasingly looking toward Africa for long-term supply opportunities, MOTA 2026 is expected to become one of the year’s most important international gatherings focused on Africa’s mining future.
