The collaboration between French brand Veja and emerging Brazilian fashion label Misci has both feet firmly planted in the Amazon River.
First teased on Misci’s runway during the fall 2026 Rio Fashion Week in April, the sneaker design they teamed up on has dropped in stores.
A revisit of Veja’s retro-flavored Paulistana model, the Veja x Misci collaboration comes in two colorways of almond, a tonal beige combination and walnut, which has reddish-brown accents. Curved quilting lines across the upper take their cues from Brazil’s landscapes and its dunes in particular.
Misci founder Airon Martin told WWD that the French footwear brand had “always shown a genuine commitment to valuing Brazil and its culture.”

“That shared vision made the collaboration feel incredibly natural from the very beginning,” he continued.
The novelty of this shoe lies in the textured counter, tongue and toe, made of pirarucu leather. This material comes from a large freshwater fish native to the Amazon River that is part of the staple diet of local populations, who previously discarded the skins.
Martin, who frequently uses pirarucu leather in his six-year-old brand’s collections, said the collaboration was “a way of transforming a personal memory and a Brazilian cultural reference into contemporary design.”
Priced at 290 euros, the Misci x Veja sneakers are available worldwide online, at Veja and Misci physical stores as well as selected retailers across Europe, Latin America and South Korea.
