The use of kangaroo leather in racing suits, after all, goes unnoticed by most people but involves the vast majority of riders.
“89% of riders still use suits with kangaroo leather inserts. We conducted an analysis of the 102 riders on the grid in 2026, and this data calls into question the entire production chain: from technical apparel brands to teams, all the way to manufacturers—no one should feel excluded,” declared Simone Pavesi, head of LAV’s Animal-Free Fashion Division.
The systematic analysis conducted by LAV on all 102 riders entered in the 2026 MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, and World SBK championships—verifying the brand and material of each athlete’s suit—reveals unequivocal data.
The most widespread brand is Alpinestars, which outfits 51 riders (68%) with the Racing Absolute V2, a suit made of “kangaroo and cowhide.” In second place is Dainese with 15 riders (20%): its Mugello RR D-air and Demone GP are “entirely made of kangaroo leather.” The only 100% animal-free alternative on the grid is the Virus Power MultiProtective, worn by Alberto Surra in the World SBK Championship: concrete proof that you can race without killing.
