Urschel is set to unveil the Little Gem Aspire Dicer, a new cutting concept in fruit and vegetable processing, at upcoming trade shows beginning in May 2026. The new Little Gem will be revealed at select industry events including interpack Processing & Packaging in Düsseldorf, Germany from May 7-13, the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. from May 16-19, FOOMA in Tokyo, Japan from June 2-5, and ProPak Asia in Bangkok, Thailand from June 10-13.

New cutting concept from Urschel

Invented by the Urschel Innovation & Development team, the Little Gem employs patented Urschel technology to create precision cutting methods, developed through extensive research and development.

Urschel said its Innovation & Development, engineering and manufacturing teams invested significant resources into research and collaboration with customers around the world to bring the new Little Gem to market. The machine has a compact footprint designed for limited production space. It is ready to run and can produce slices from 2 mm to 10 mm, as well as strips and dices up to 20 mm.

Inspired by an early Urschel invention

The new dicer takes its name from the original Little Gem, a patented invention by Urschel founder William E. Urschel in the early 1900s. That machine was developed to remove stems and blossoms from gooseberries, which were a popular fruit at the time.

According to the company, one original Little Gem could do the work of 100 workers in a day and helped transform canning production. The machine became one of Urschel’s earliest successes and supported further innovation that helped establish the company as a global supplier of food cutting technology.

Urschel said more information about the Little Gem will be released on its website as the trade shows approach. Official reveals are planned at the upcoming events, where visitors will be able to see the machine in person and learn more about the new cutting concept.
