Influence Media Partners has signed an agreement to acquire substantially all of Anthem Entertainment’s assets, in collaboration with funds and accounts managed by affiliates of BlackRock, for a purchase price of over $600 million. The deal covers Anthem’s music publishing catalogs, film and TV publishing assets, and portfolio of master recordings.
The catalog includes more than 24,000 released songs and over 60,000 additional unexploited works, spanning hits such as Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again,” Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack,” Timbaland’s “The Way I Are,” Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t,” Rush’s “Tom Sawyer,” and OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” along with works by country artists Jordan Davis, Shane Profitt, and Chris Janson. Anthem’s film and TV catalog includes soundtrack material from the Spider-Man and Men in Black franchises and LEGO Ninjago. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in Q4 2026.
“This acquisition marks a major milestone for Influence Media and reflects the momentum we’ve built as a platform,” said Lylette Pizarro McLean, Influence Media Founder and Co-Managing Partner, in a press release. “Anthem’s catalog extends far beyond hit songs; it’s music that has become woven into iconic moments, films, and shows that audiences around the world know and love.”
Paul Braude, CIO of Direct Private Opportunities Group at BlackRock, said the catalog “exemplifies the high-quality, scaled intellectual property assets we seek within Direct Private Opportunities at BlackRock,” calling Influence Media “a differentiated platform with deep industry expertise and strong talent relationships.”
Anthem CEO Jason Klein said the sale positions the catalog and its songwriters to enter “their next era supported by a creator-led independent with the vision and resources to unlock new opportunities.”
Truist led debt financing and served as financial advisor to Influence Media, which was also advised by Alter, Kendrick & Baron, McDermott Will & Schulte, and McCarthy Tétrault. BlackRock was advised by Clifford Chance and Stikeman Elliott. Goldman Sachs advised Anthem, with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt as legal counsel.
Influence Media, led by Pizarro McLean, Rene McLean, Lynn Hazan, and founding advisor Jon Jashni, holds a portfolio that includes rights to works by Future, Enrique Iglesias, Blake Shelton, and others, and launched its label and publisher SLANG in 2024.
