Finpension Continues to Grow Rapidly

Finpension Continues to Grow Rapidly

Since the beginning of August, more than 6 billion francs has been invested through finpension. At the same time, the number of clients has also risen sharply: More than 75’000 people now use the pension and investment solutions offered by the Lucerne-based company.

The increase continues a steep growth trajectory. At the beginning of September 2025, finpension still had 4 billion francs in assets under management, and in February it passed the 5 billion franc mark (finews reported). This represents growth of 50 percent in less than a year.

At the end of 2024, the company had only around 40’000 clients.

A Warning to Banks

For Beat Bühlmann, initiator and chairman of finpension, the driving force behind the growth is ease of access: «Investing money is much easier than it used to be. Those that do not offer simple, digital investment solutions will struggle to win over the younger generation in particular.»

In an earlier interview with finews, he had already predicted that things would «get tight for the banks.»

Banking License in Sight

finpension now plans to expand its offering beyond asset management. The company is seeking its own banking license and intends to enter the mortgage business in the near future. Thanks to its own pension foundations and its Finma license as an account-holding securities firm, the fintech already manages its clients’ custody accounts itself.

finpension was founded in 2016, initially offering a 1e pension solution, where it remains the market leader today with more than 650 affiliated companies. A vested benefits solution followed in 2017, Pillar 3a in 2020, and in March 2024 the company obtained a securities firm license for investments outside the pension system.
