The Mona L03 is the second model from Xpeng’s sub-brand, following the M03 saloon. The compact SUV is available – at least in China – as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or as a range-extender model. Pre-sale prices start at 143,800 yuan, equivalent to €18,500 euros. Xpeng has announced six trim levels for the model.

According to Xpeng, the BEV version offers two battery options, delivering ranges of 525 and 625km under the CLTC cycle, respectively. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. It also supports 3C fast charging, which allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just under 20 minutes, according to the manufacturer. The EREV version, thanks to its onboard range extender, offers a maximum combined CLTC range of 1,330 kilometres, with a pure electric range of 315 kilometres.

Chinese portals such as CN EV Post describe the vehicle as the “young people’s first smart and stylish SUV.” The model is set to launch simultaneously in 64 countries and regions worldwide. Xpeng aims to achieve this global expansion with the Mona L03 later this year. As CN EV Post reports, the model was designed “by a global team led by JuanMa Lopez, a former Ferrari exterior designer.”

The vehicle measures 4.65 x 1.92 x 1.60 metres with a wheelbase of 2.85m, giving it an aerodynamic and sporty appearance thanks to its fastback design. However, what is expected to particularly appeal to young consumers are the connectivity features and smart capabilities of the EV. The L03 comes standard with Xpeng’s in-house-developed Turing AI chip. The lower trim levels feature a chip with a computing power of 750 TOPS, while the higher trims are equipped with two chips, delivering a combined 1,500 TOPS. The latter also support Xpeng’s full version of the second-generation VLA system (“Vision-Language-Action”).

The L03’s interior includes a 15.6-inch central display, an almost 27-inch head-up display, a 20-speaker audio system, and a zero-gravity passenger seat with a massage function. The boot offers 539 litres of space, or 1,640 litres with the rear seats folded. Additionally, the frunk provides an extra 102 litres of storage. Xpeng also highlights a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function with a 6kW output for its new Mona model.

For context: The L03 is the second model in Xpeng’s Mona series but is positioned differently. The debut Mona saloon was developed in collaboration with ride-hailing service Didi and launched exclusively in China in August 2024. To date, the model has not been available in Europe. According to CN EV Post, around 176,000 units of the Mona saloon were delivered in 2025. However, momentum has slowed in the first five months of the current year: “Cumulative deliveries [amounted to] 48,291 units in the first five months of 2026, down 33.15% year-on-year,” the report states. The L03 thus arrives at an opportune moment to boost the Mona brand’s sales figures.

It remains unclear where the Mona L03 will be manufactured. However, for the European market, the electric SUV could be produced by Magna Steyr in Graz. Xpeng announced last month that a fourth model would be produced by the Austrian contract manufacturer. However, no model name has been specified yet.
