Released on July 19 through the Hyundai Motor Group YouTube channel, the video tells the deeply moving story of Onyu Kim, who has been living with respiratory support equipment for 23 years, as she embarks on a trip with her family, supported by Kia’s “Chorok Travel” program.

As of this date, the video has reached approximately 10.2 million views, earned a total of 1,159 comments, and more than 9,100 likes, drawing significant attention from viewers both in Korea and abroad.

Among the comments, 705 posts (60.8%) suggested various ideas for utilizing purpose-built vehicles (PBV), followed by 217 comments (18.7%) expressing gratitude toward Hyundai Motor Group and Chorok Travel, and 205 comments (17.7%) offering support and empathy for Kim and her family.

Netizens shared their support for Kim and emphasized the human value of technology with comments such as, “Onyu’s bright smile upon seeing the ocean for the first time in 23 years moved me deeply,” “I hope all of Onyu’s wishes come true,” “Sincere thanks to Hyundai Motor Group and the PV5 WAV for their warmth and technology,” “The Chorok Travel project is truly meaningful,” and “This is the best campaign to show how great technology can be when it serves people.”

An analysis of the 705 comments proposing PBV applications showed that the medical and care sector accounted for the largest portion at 34.3%, followed by education and culture at 28.9%, mobility and travel at 14.0%, daily life, commerce, and public services at 8.2%, pets at 7.4%, and disaster and emergency services at 7.1%.

In the medical and care field, ideas included mobile clinics and psychological counseling services to improve access to healthcare. For education and culture, many suggestions highlighted mobile libraries, VR experience education centers, and film studios to broaden cultural and educational opportunities.

Other proposals included custom-built camper vans and mobile accommodations for wheelchair users, pop-up stores and mobile kitchens for daily life, commerce, and public services; also, ideas such as mobile pet rescue services, portable community spaces for seniors living alone, smart beds, and biometric monitoring were mentioned.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to share these ideas with relevant business divisions to explore ways to develop customer-centric services and create social value in the future.
