The Level 3 balcony at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Terminal 2 has been closed to the public after two foreign nationals fell to their deaths.

The two incidents occurred on May 1 and are not believed to be linked, according to the police, The Star newspaper reported.

A 27-year-old Chinese woman fell from the third floor of the terminal hours before a 30-year-old Algerian man fell from the same level.

Both cases have been classified as sudden deaths and remain under investigation.

Operations at the airport have continued largely uninterrupted, with passenger traffic in the busy hub remaining steady, according to New Straits Times.

Located about 2 km from the main terminal, Terminal 2 dedicated to low-cost carriers features 68 departure gates, 80 aerobridges, and extensive retail space. The terminal operates round-the-clock transfer services, including buses and rail links connecting it to other parts of the airport.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which spans over 100 square kilometers to be named Southeast Asia’s largest airport by land area, handled 16.9 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, a 14.4% year-on-year increase, driven by festive travel demand and expanded connectivity.
