KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim has been admitted to the Institut Jantung Negara( IJN) after experiencing health issues in Parliament on Tuesday (July 7).

According to his office, Ahmad Amzad had attended the sitting for the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) session and was also slated to debate the Motion on the 2024 Annual Report of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam).

“While at Parliament, he experienced dizziness and nearly fainted. He was subsequently taken to the Parliament Clinic for an initial medical examination and treatment.

Following further assessment by the medical officers at the Parliament Clinic, YB Datuk was referred to the IJN for further examination,” his office said in a statement.

He was then transported to IJN by ambulance and has since been admitted to the ward for observation and further treatment under the care of the medical team,” it added.

His office said in light of the development, several official engagements, meetings and programmes that had been scheduled for this week will have to be postponed until further notice.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding.

We also seek the prayers of all that YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Amzad Hashim will be granted a swift recovery, that his treatment will proceed smoothly, and that he will be blessed with good health,” it added.
