AirBorneo plans to grow its fleet to 17 aircraft by the end of 2030.

Sarawak’s state-owned full-service airline, AirBorneo, is targeting to launch daily flights to Singapore by end July, shortly after its planned debut service between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur on 20 July.

Speaking at a media roundtable on 8 July, AirBorneo chief executive Megat Ardian Aminuddin said the airline has secured the necessary approvals and traffic rights for Singapore, with operational testing at Singapore Changi Airport the remaining step before services can begin.

The airline will operate twice-daily flights between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur, alongside a once-daily Singapore service, using two wet-leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Looking ahead, AirBorneo plans to expand its fleet with three additional jet aircraft in 2027, followed by one new aircraft every quarter from 2028, bringing its fleet to 17 aircraft by the end of 2030.

The carrier’s network strategy will focus on regional destinations within a three-to-five-hour flying radius, including cities in ASEAN.

The airline CEO also hopes to play a role in the 2027 Southeast Asian Games, which Sarawak will co-host.

By early 2027, AirBorneo expects to serve two to three ASEAN destinations on scheduled services, with additional regional cities potentially reached through scheduled charter flights before regular operations commence.
