The best hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia

The Langham Jakarta

This is a hotel which screams luxury but which doesn’t take itself too seriously. Take the (very rare) Kaws figure presiding over the executive lounge’s entrance, or the cocktails in the hotel’s Artesian Bar, where weird and wonderful creations include the vodka-based Great Escape, made with alpine cheese distillate, lacto-fermented tomato and basil. Again, sounds weird, but it works. Rooms at this Sudirman Central Business District bolthole feel spacious and homely, with plant pot-dotted side tables and framed works of art propped casually on sideboards. Even the entry level deluxe rooms feel fabulously luxurious, with extra high ceilings and an abundance of smart tech which allows you to control everything from the blinds to the lighting from the comfort of your bed.

The hotel has a jaw-droppingly wide selection of restaurants, including Alice by Tom Aikens for French cuisine (if you hadn’t realised yet, French cuisine is having a bit of a moment in Jakarta), Tom’s by Tom Aikens for British classics with an Indonesian twist and Morimoto for Japanese cuisine served with stunning city views. For sundowners, it’s hard to beat Artesian Bar on the sixty-fifth floor, where seating is scattered across the indoor and outdoor gardens. Don’t miss the breakfasts – the pièce de résistance is the rendang eggs Benedict.

Address: District 8, SCBD, Lot 28, Jakarta 12190

25hours Hotel The Oddbird

I never thought I’d find myself eating the best ceviche of my life at a Jakartan hotel, but that’s exactly what happened at COPA, a Latin American restaurant at the achingly hip 25hours Hotel The Oddbird, which opened in early 2026, has 210 rooms and is the proudly disruptive brand’s first hotel in Asia (the others are all in Europe).

Rooms are either Urban or Garden, but they all share the same approach to design – think fabulously retro décor in the bedrooms, including rotary dial telephones and vintage radios. Equally swish is the colourful lobby, with its suspended birdcage like structures – perfect for snuggling up with a book.

Nothing is too much trouble for staff, who will happily take the time to recommend their favourite spots in the city. In my case, general manager Jesper Soerensen recommend the Museum Nasional Indonesia, more specifically its courtyard- this calm-inducing sculpture-filled space is perfect for some time out (and as an added bonus it’s admission-free).

Address: District 8, SCBD Lot 28, Jl. Jend. sudirman kav 52-53, Daerah Khusus Ibukota
