Protesters Urge Prabowo to Dismiss BGN Head Nanik S. Deyang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Coalition of Concerned Citizens for Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) staged a protest in front of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Building in Jakarta today, Monday, June 15, 2026. They urged President Prabowo Subianto to dismiss Nanik Sudaryati Deyang from her position as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

According to Tempo‘s observation on the location, approximately 60 people gathered in front of the Parliament Complex. They weren’t wearing anything distinctive, and some were holding protest signs. One of the posters displayed Nanik’s image with the words “Mrs. SANDIWARA” (meaning Mrs. Drama).

“The appointment of Nanik S. Deyang should be suspected, whether Nanik S. Deyang is deserving of being the head of BGN, friends,” one of the speakers on the command car said.

Several speakers took turns delivering their speeches. The coalition mentioned Nanik’s close relationship with President Prabowo. One of the speakers also voiced suspicions that Nanik was involved in corruption within the BGN.

Muhamad Yani, 23, the action coordinator, stated that the Coalition of Concerned Citizens for MBG was made up of students, young people, and community members. The students came from the Islamic University of Jakarta, Bung Karno University, and the Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia University. “There are around 3-4 campuses from their universities,” he said when interviewed by reporters at the rally location.

Yani explained that initially, 200 protesters were going to rally with the coalition. However, when they arrived at the location, some people had dispersed, and only about 60 people remained. The coalition also initially intended to rally at two locations, the DPR (parliament) and the Horse Statue. “But at the Horse Statue, they said it was not possible, so we stayed here,” he said.

The coalition’s main demand is for Prabowo to dismiss Nanik from her position as Head of BGN. “Because she does not meet the aspects of propriety, integrity, and her track record that is still shadowed by legal entanglements,” the coalition stated in a written press release.

They urged Prabowo to immediately remove Nanik from her position and to evaluate her appointment as the Head of BGN. Additionally, they requested the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IX to assess Nanik’s eligibility and propriety as the Head of BGN.

The coalition also requested Commission IX not to turn a blind eye to the “mention of the name Nanik S. Deyang” in the statements of former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya, who became a key witness or justice collaborator in the corruption case at the BGN. Sony’s lawyer stated that more than 20 names would be disclosed regarding their involvement in the case.

Finally, the Coalition of Concerned Citizens for MBG urged the public to boycott the MBG program in rejection of Nanik’s appointment as Head of BGN.
