Dubai, UAE – Dubai Humanity has operated an air shipment of 20 metric tons of vital medical supplies from the World Health Organization’s proactive stockpile. This is in support of efforts to combat the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, via Uganda.
This came under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The shipment departed from Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central. It is expected to cover the estimated needs of hundreds of patients for four weeks, and support approximately 280 health facilities.
Basic medical supplies
The humanitarian shipment includes multi-use tents, sterilization materials, personal protective equipment, and thermometers. And other basic medical supplies needed to strengthen efforts to combat Ebola and support front-line health care workers in affected areas.
