Greater Bay Airlines will launch a Hong Kong–Chongqing route on September 4.
The service will operate three weekly round trips on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on a seasonal basis through October 16. Boeing 737 aircraft will be used. Flight time is 2 hours and 25 minutes in both directions.
Chongqing is an important economic and cultural center in southwestern China and the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It is known for its distinctive terrain and spectacular night views, and is popular with travelers from Hong Kong. Tourist attractions include Hongyadong, lined with traditional Bayu-style stilted buildings known as “diaojiaolou”; the Wulong Three Natural Bridges, famous as filming locations for numerous acclaimed movies; the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and the Nanshan Yishu Observation Deck, offering panoramic views of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers.
