Italian luxury house Valentino once again collaborated with the Beijing Film Academy to present the Forward Future Section at the 16th Beijing International Film Festival running from April 16 to 25.

Now in its second year of sponsorship, Valentino continues to nurture emerging filmmakers, cultivating a creative platform for the next generation of cinematic voices. This section invites global submissions for first and second feature films across diverse themes, genres, and styles. It aims to discover new international talent through a China-based perspective while championing fresh artistic expression, and fostering cross-cultural dialogue among young filmmakers.

Positioned as a platform for discovering new perspectives in global cinema, this section promotes a dynamic balance between innovation and multiculturalism. Seven awards will be presented, including “Most Notable Film,” “Most Notable Director,” “Most Notable Screenwriter,” “Most Notable Actress,” “Most Notable Actor,” “Most Notable Artistic Contribution,” and “Jury Special Mention Film.”

The awards ceremony and gala, set for April 22, will bring together leading international film figures to celebrate the elegant dialogue between fashion and cinema.

Valentino will also spotlight the legacy of Italian cinema in Beijing. From April 16 to 26, the brand will host a special retrospective of acclaimed director Paolo Sorrentino at selected cinemas, including his masterpieces “The Great Beauty” (La Grande Bellezza), “Youth” (La Giovinezza), and his latest film “The Grace” (La Grazia). Known for his surreal visuals and philosophical depth, Sorrentino’s works offer an immersive journey through Italian aesthetics, capturing moments of elegance shaped by “light and shadow”.

From April 21 to 25, Valentino will further extend the experience with an immersive installation at its boutique in Beijing’s Sanlitun. The boutique will feature a retro cinema-inspired setting, with the entrance transformed into a film-themed display, creating a sensory journey where fashion and moving images converge.
