Dragon Boat or Tuen Ng Festival falls on June 19 this year, and during the lead-up, zongzi – glutinous rice dumplings stuffed with all manner of ingredients, wrapped up in bamboo leaves – fill Hong Kong shops and kitchens.
From traditional classics to new-school twists, zongzi options are becoming much more diverse. Here is a list of some of the best on offer this year, from traditional rice dumplings filled with pork and salted egg yolk to vegetarian options.

This year, the Peninsula Boutique is offering gift sets featuring either savoury or sweet dumplings.

The savoury dumplings are filled with XO sauce pork and belly (HK$828 for the set), while the sweet ones feature coconut and egg custard (HK$448 for the set). All dumplings are made with slow-cooked Thai glutinous rice.
