SRO Motorsports Asia’s 2027 calendar is set after the Japan Cup series announced a change to its 2027 provisional calendar.
During the SRO Press Conference in June, it was announced that SRO’s multi-class Japanese racing series would change up its calendar, visiting Mobility Resort Motegi in May to kick off the season as a replacement to Sportsland Sugo.
Fuji Speedway, Okayama International Circuit, and Suzuka Circuit have all returned, but Wednesday’s announcement from the SRO is that the Suzuka round of Japan Cup will move from its originally scheduled dates of 4/5 September to 12/13 June. This change will see Japan Cup support GT World Challenge Asia’s regular round at Suzuka, instead of the 51st annual Suzuka 1000km which is set to take place on 5 September 2027.
This change will allow Japan Cup teams more flexibility to enter the Suzuka 1000km next year without sacrificing resources and energy in their primary campaigns. That, along with the announcement that SUPER GT GT300 teams will be able to compete in next year’s Suzuka 1000km with their regular Dunlop tyres, should give the race a much-needed lift in terms of participation from domestic teams.
The 2027 Japan Cup season will now end at Okayama on 7/8 August. A pre-season test is slated for March 2027 at Fuji Speedway, with specific dates to be announced later.

There are no changes to the GT World Challenge Asia calendar which was announced in June, including the return of both Suzuka and Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand to the calendar.
The 2027 GT World Asia season once again begins on 4/5 April at Petronas Sepang International Circuit, followed by Buriram on 1/2 May, which replaces Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on the calendar for 2027.
The GT World Asia Suzuka round on 12/13 June replaces Okayama, which will only host next year’s Japan Cup finale. The second “GT PowerTour” race of the year, co-starring GT World Asia and Japan Cup, is at Fuji Speedway on 10/11 July, before the season wraps up with two races in China: The Beijing Street Race on 2/3 October, and the season finale at Shanghai International Circuit on 23/24 October.
