Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian table tennis Olympian Ismu Harinto/Lieng Lieng Minangmojo won the ITTF World Masters Championships Gangneung 2026 mixed doubles 50 title at Gangneung Olympic Park, South Korea.

The title was secured by Harinto/Minangmojo after mounting a comeback from a deficit to defeat the host pair Yong Hyeon Jo/Sun Ah Kim with a final score of 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.

“Since joining under the management of Wu Sport led by Suroso Hartono, Lieng Lieng and I have received excellent support. This includes preparation for every match, particularly in devising strategies during the matches,” Harinto said in a written statement received here on Sunday.

“We found the right momentum to turn the situation around and achieve the best result. The mixed doubles title at the ITTF World Masters Gangneung 2026 is proof of the hard work of the entire team,” he said.

In the final, the national table tennis legend who once represented Indonesia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Harinto, alongside Minangmojo, faced a strong South Korean pair playing in front of their home crowd. Harinto/Minangmojo trailed 0-2 after losing the first two sets 9-11, 9-11.

The situation looked difficult, with pressure increasing and the title seemingly slipping away. However, at that critical moment, the pair demonstrated steel mentality, fighting back with more aggressive, calmer, and confident play.

Set by set, they won 11-6 and 11-7, forcing the match into a deciding rubber game.

In the decisive set, the duel was tight, but Harinto/Minangmojo maintained their focus until they eventually won the final set 11-8.

Harinto/Minangmojo staged a comeback from two sets down, turning it into an epic victory and securing the mixed doubles 50 title to bring pride to Indonesia.
