University partnerships target talent development in chip manufacturing and aerospace
Indonesia and Brazil are expanding cooperation in semiconductors, aerospace, and advanced technology through a new education and research partnership.
The initiative involves collaboration between Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Brazil’s State University of Campinas (Unicamp), including training in microfabrication, integrated circuit design, and materials science.
Brazil’s Deputy Chief of Mission Rodrigo Alexandre Oliveira de Carvalho said Unicamp is ready to host up to 10 Indonesian postgraduate students under a joint semiconductor programme.
Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto said the partnership is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s capacity in strategic industries through concrete academic collaboration.
The two countries are also finalizing an education cooperation agreement, with plans to expand institutional participation and potentially develop a dual-degree programme between ITB and Unicamp.
Brazil said the initiative reflects support for Indonesia’s efforts to build skilled talent in advanced technology sectors.
