The debut of Chanel’s latest high jewellery collection, Signes & Symboles, deserved a setting as evocative as the collection itself, and Chanel found precisely that at one of Hong Kong’s most breathtaking locations. During a celebration held at The Verandah at The Repulse Bay last month, the collection was unveiled in fitting style with house ambassadors and friends of the brand in attendance, clad in the collection’s magnificent new pieces. Overlooking the South China Sea, the landmark provided an elegant stage where architecture, artistry and haute joaillerie came together in a celebration of the house’s enduring creative codes.

Rather than a conventional jewellery presentation, the evening unfolded as an immersive expression of the collection’s philosophy. Every detail echoed Gabrielle Chanel’s most treasured symbols – the camellia, lion, star and sun – creating an atmosphere that felt as considered and layered as the jewels themselves.

Guests moved through intimate salons where the exceptional craftsmanship of the collection could be appreciated closely, each creation revealing intricate gem-setting, sculptural forms and extraordinary attention to proportion.

The guest list reflected Chanel’s enduring influence across fashion, cinema and culture. House ambassadors Zhou Xun, Kim Go-eun, Park Seo-jun, Ann Hsu, Chutimon “Aokbab” Chuengcharoensukying and Mark Prin Suparat were joined by long-time friends of the brand, including Carina Lau and Fala Chen, underscoring Hong Kong’s role as one of Chanel’s most important luxury markets. Against the backdrop of one of Hong Kong’s most storied addresses, guests were immersed in a world where art, craftsmanship and imagination converged.

The occasion also reflected Chanel’s long-standing affinity with the city, whose appreciation for exceptional craftsmanship and collecting has made it a natural destination for the brand’s most significant high jewellery unveilings and most ambitious collections yet.

As dusk settled over the bay, the evening took on a more intimate rhythm with a surprise performance by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Laufey. Her signature ethereal blend of jazz influences, classical music and contemporary storytelling brought a softness to the occasion, offering a lyrical counterpoint to the bold geometry and vibrant gemstones of the collection. It very much mirrored the spirit of Signes & Symboles itself – romantic yet modern, intimate yet grand.
