Key Takeaways:

  • UAE PM Al Maktoum announced a major pivot to run 50% of government operations on Agentic AI.
  • Expanding on its April 2025 AI legislative rollout, the UAE will train all workers to master AI.
  • Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed will oversee the massive transition to meet a strict 2-year deadline.

UAE Government to Run on Agentic AI Tech in the Next Two Years

AI (artificial intelligence) is starting to crawl into more delicate aspects of our everyday lives, including governance.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), announced on Thursday that under the directive of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the nation was pivoting to include AI as part of an automation push for government services.

On social media, Al Maktoum stressed that “50% of government sectors, services, and operations will run on Agentic AI,” establishing a two-year deadline to complete this migration.

He declared:

“AI is no longer a tool. It analyses, decides, executes, and improves in real time. It will become our executive partner to enhance services, accelerate decisions, and raise efficiency.”

The performance of these new systems will be evaluated by measuring several key elements, including speed of adoption, quality of implementation, and mastery of AI in redesigning government work.

Federal workers will not be left behind. Al Maktoum stressed that all employees will be trained to “master AI” to build the capabilities of the AI-driven government. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed will oversee the implementation of this major transformational project, aiming to replace the current government with a faster, more responsive, and more impactful model.

“The world is changing. Technology is accelerating. Our principle remains constant. People come first,” Al Maktoum concluded.

The UAE has been open to the inclusion of AI in its government structure. In April 2025, Al Maktoum himself launched the Emirates’ AI-based legislative system, which uses AI agents to develop laws, monitor their effects using data analysis, and propose legislative amendments based on its observations.
