Türkiye’s flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, is set to resume direct flights between Türkiye and the UAE starting June 9 after suspending services during the peak of the Iran war.

According to information shared by the airline’s press office, operations will restart with the Istanbul-Dubai flight scheduled to depart at 1:30 a.m. local time on June 9.

Gulf airlines rebuild routes

The decision follows the UAE’s full restoration of air operations in early May after months of disruption caused by the conflict, bringing regional travel and major hubs like Dubai and Abu Dhabi back to normal.

Airlines across the Gulf have gradually started rebuilding flight schedules as airspace restrictions ease and regional routing capacity improves.

Flights to the UAE had been suspended after several Middle Eastern countries temporarily shut their airspace following the outbreak of war between the U.S. and Iran on Feb. 28.

The closures disrupted aviation corridors across the region, forcing carriers to reroute aircraft, reduce frequencies, and pause services to several destinations.

Dubai airport traffic plunges

The fallout heavily impacted Dubai International Airport, where passenger traffic plunged during the height of the conflict. According to the Dubai Media Office, traffic at the airport dropped 66% year-over-year in March to 2.5 million passengers after Iranian attacks targeted the UAE during the Iran war.

Airport authorities described the situation as a period of “regional disruption” that sharply constrained airspace capacity and put pressure on flight operations throughout the Gulf. Officials added that flight movements are now being scaled up in line with the gradual recovery of regional air routes.

Dubai International, one of the world’s busiest hubs for international passenger traffic, was also targeted multiple times by drones during Iran’s retaliation against U.S.-Israeli strikes.
