Speaking to Tasnim’s Hebrew correspondent, the security source revealed that although Gargash had been under the surveillance of Israeli security forces since around 2007 due to the nature of his positions, this issue took on a new dimension in 2015.
The source noted that the original discovering of Gargash took place in the security department of the Israeli regime’s foreign ministry, but the institution that carried out this important work was the Mamad Center for International Studies, which is actually the intelligence service of the Israeli foreign ministry and a member of the regime’s intelligence community.
Mamad is one of Israel’s three main intelligence assessment institutions alongside Mossad and Aman (Israeli army intelligence). Mamad is introduced externally under the covert and unrealistic name of the “Political Research Center”, while in fact it is the security and intelligence arm of the regime’s foreign ministry.
This security source noted that Mamad, in addition to security and intelligence analysis of foreign policy trends in the world, is also responsible for discovering and guiding talented individuals to protect Israel’s interests.
Although Mamad played an important role in discovering Anwar Gargash and then guiding his stances, since 2018, Mossad has also joined the issue, given its role as Israel’s foreign security service, and after that Mamad has practically played the role of introducing and making major policy in Gargash’s positions, and the main task of communicating and guiding Gargash has been assigned to the Mossad, according to this security source.
The source said a person named “Koby” is Gargash’s main contact in the Tevel department of the Mossad, and many of Gargash’s anti-Iranian positions are decided and disseminated through this channel.
Tevel is the political action and cooperation department of the Mossad, whose main responsibility is to manage relations with foreign intelligence services and covert diplomacy. It is estimated that about 70 percent of the intelligence received by the Mossad also comes from exchanges with this department. Establishing communication and networking are other main tasks of the Tevel department.
Additional information on this will be released soon.
