British Airways canceled its planned Airbus A380 service from London Heathrow to Dubai for winter 2026/2027. The move reduces A380 flights by 28% overall and shifts capacity to premium cabins. Dubai flights will now use Boeing 787s and 777s only.
British Airways will operate one to two daily flights between London Heathrow and Dubai this winter, all using Boeing 787s or 777-200ERs, replacing the previously scheduled A380. The airline had planned three daily flights, including one A380, but scaled back due to regional instability and fleet reconfiguration. The A380 will now serve only four destinations from Heathrow this winter, down from six last year.
The reduction stems from BA’s cabin upgrade program, which removes 88 economy seats per A380 to add 13 business suites and 29 premium economy seats. The airline’s A380 fleet will drop from third to sixth largest globally in flight volume. Emirates continues to dominate the London-Dubai corridor with 12 daily flights, nine of them on A380s.
Travelers lose access to the A380’s spacious layout and lower-cost economy seats on this high-demand route. Premium passengers may benefit from upgraded cabins, but overall seat capacity drops, potentially raising fares and reducing availability during peak travel months.
