A MALE student from a private university has been arrested after he is believed to have injured a woman at an apartment in Bandar Sunsuria in Sepang.

Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman, said the 22-year-old local was arrested on the day of the incident yesterday after attacking the 34-year-old victim using a sharp weapon at the rented residence.

According to him, initial investigations found that the suspect, who had just rented one of the rooms in the apartment through an accommodation app, had no relationship with the victim.

“The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement, adding that the victim was in a critical but stable condition, receiving treatment at a hospital.

He said that so far, 10 statements have been taken, while urine tests on the suspect were found to be negative, and the man also has no criminal record.

“The suspect was remanded for seven days from yesterday until April 16 to assist in the investigation. Further investigation is still underway,” he said.

Members of the public who have information regarding the incident are asked to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Azroy Amran, at 014-2723342 or come to the nearest police station. – April 12, 2026
