Oil and Gas

SLB has been awarded a contract by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) to support the restoration of oil and gas production from shut-in wells across multiple mature offshore fields in Brunei.

The scope spans subsurface evaluation, well candidate selection, engineering, and offshore execution. SLB will bring project management, intervention services, monitoring, metering, and marine logistics together in a single, coordinated delivery model.

The programme is designed to help BSP restore production from existing wells while improving recovery from mature offshore infrastructure.

According to SLB, the project represents the first deployment of an integrated production restoration solution for BSP.

This model brings together multiple disciplines, services, and workflows to support recovery from mature assets through coordinated surveillance, engineering, and intervention planning.

This approach is aligned with standard well, reservoir and facility management practices, aiming to improve production while maintaining safe and efficient offshore operations.

The contract also reflects a wider industry focus on extracting more value from mature assets, as operators seek to improve recovery from existing infrastructure rather than relying solely on new developments.

According to SLB, mature offshore fields increasingly require integrated production and recovery strategies that combine technical expertise, coordinated execution and production management.
