Higher prices lift Textron Aviation revenue

Higher aircraft prices helped Textron Aviation increase second-quarter 2026 revenue despite a decline in Citation jet deliveries.

The Wichita-based manufacturer reported revenue of $1.54 billion for the quarter, up 1.4% from $1.52 billion a year earlier.

Textron attributed the increase primarily to higher aircraft pricing, which helped offset lower delivery volume. Aircraft revenue increased by $17 million, while aftermarket parts and services revenue rose by $5 million.

Textron Aviation delivered 40 Citation jets during the quarter, down from 49 in the second quarter of 2025.

Commercial turboprop deliveries rose 29% to 44 aircraft from 34 a year earlier. The category includes the Cessna Caravan and SkyCourier and the Beechcraft King Air family.

The results included the first five Cessna Citation Ascend business jets delivered to fractional provider NetJets. Textron certified the Ascend in 2025 as the newest member of the Citation 560XL family.

Textron Aviation also reported continued strong demand during the quarter, as its order backlog reached $8.03 billion, up slightly from $8 billion at the end of the first quarter and $7.72 billion at the end of 2025.

Aftermarket revenue increased to $512 million from $507 million a year earlier.

Higher revenue did not translate into stronger earnings for the aviation unit. Textron Aviation profit fell 3% to $165 million from $170 million. Its profit margin narrowed to 10.7% from 11.2%.

Textron blamed the decline primarily on manufacturing inefficiencies and lower aircraft volume. Lower warranty costs partly offset those pressures.

The company continues to develop the next generation of its light-jet lineup. Textron said the Citation M2 Gen3 has joined the CJ4 Gen3 in flight testing as both programs move toward US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification.

Across all of its businesses, Textron reported second-quarter revenue of $3.83 billion, up 3% from $3.72 billion a year earlier.

Net income increased to $248 million from $245 million, while adjusted earnings rose to $1.62 per share from $1.55.

Textron reiterated its full-year adjusted earnings forecast of $6.40 to $6.60 per share.

“The second quarter continued a strong start to the year for Textron with revenue growth in each of our manufacturing segments contributing to higher revenues of $500 million through the first half of the year,” Textron CEO Lisa Atherton said.

Textron Aviation builds Cessna and Beechcraft aircraft and now includes Pipistrel following a realignment of the company’s former Textron eAviation segment at the beginning of 2026.
