Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian men’s national volleyball team lost to Vietnam in the second round semifinal of the 2026 SEA V Cup. Playing at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Rawamangun, on Saturday (July 25th), Reidel Toiran’s squad lost 1-3 (25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 18-25).

In this match, Farhan Halim and his teammates were already leading in the first game. The Indonesian men’s volleyball team then slowed down, and they lost to Vietnam in 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Boy Arnes Arabi had already put in a strong performance, becoming the top scorer with 14 points. Other players, Farhan Halim and Fauzan Nibras, each added 13 points.

For Vietnam, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan put in a brilliant performance with 23 points. Other points contributed by the Uncle Ho team were Dinh Phuong (14 points), Duong van Tien (12 points), and Tran Duy Tuyen (10 points).

The Indonesian men’s national volleyball team coach, Reidel Toiran, stated that his team had worked hard to achieve victory. He said that that his team’s performance had declined after several matches, starting with the 2026 AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup in India and the first round of the 2026 SEA V Cup in the Philippines.

He did not want that series of matches to be an excuse for the Indonesian men’s volleyball team’s defeat. Toiran will evaluate the situation, considering that there is still a third-place match against Cambodia and the upcoming 2026 Asian Games.

“In sports, there are always winners and losers. Every team wants to win, and they will prepare thoroughly. If given the opportunity to win, they will certainly try to capitalize.”

“What we’ve learned is that we must be ready to face any opponent. We have to perform at our best. We can’t afford to adapt to our opponent’s game,” said Toiran.

Echoing Toiran, the captain of the Indonesian men’s national volleyball team, Farhan Halim, was also disappointed with the semifinal result of the major Southeast Asian volleyball event. The player, born on April 26, 2001, assessed that his teammates had played their best to secure victory and secure a place in the final.

“Tonight’s defeat is a lesson for all of us to be even more prepared. We tried our best in this match, not wanting to lose, especially in front of our own fans.”

“We tried our best, but the result wasn’t ours. We all have to accept it,” said Farhan.

The defeat suffered by the Indonesian men’s national volleyball team also prompted manager Adang Ginanjar to speak out. He hopes the players will quickly put their poor semifinal result behind them and aim for third place in the second round of the 2026 SEA V Cup.

“We must not lose heart because there’s still the third-place match tomorrow. I’ve told the players to stay motivated for tomorrow’s match against Cambodia.”

“Of course, Cambodia will strive for the best result to improve their position because they will be included in the FIVB rankings in the second round of the 2026 SEA V Cup,” said the man, who is also the Head of the Presidential Guidance Division of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI).

The Indonesian men’s national volleyball team’s performance in the second round of the 2026 SEA V Cup actually failed to replicate their first-round performance. In Candon City, Philippines, Boy Arnes Arabi, cum suis, won 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) against Vietnam.

Vietnam will face Thailand in the final of this major Southeast Asian volleyball event. In the previous match, Park Ki Won’s team won 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) against Cambodia.

The second round of the 2026 SEA V Cup is scheduled to be held at the Jakarta International Velodrome in Rawamangun, Sunday (July 26th) starting at 3:30 PM, featuring a match for third place. The final will begin at 7:00 PM WIB.

Fans who wish to watch can come directly to the Jakarta International Velodrome with tickets starting at Rp 100,000. Streaming is available on Vidio.com or Moji TV. (rp)
