Ladies in Leather Motorcycle Parade rallies for show-stopping stunts in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Ladies in Leather parade will be in Wichita Falls for its eighth annual rally, bringing show-stopping stunts and charitable contributions.

Founder of the Ladies in Leather motorcycle parade & rally, Amber Cohen, said that this is the first time they will visit North Texas. The parade will bring various stunt shows, live music, games, scavenger hunts, and more. They also plan to give back to the community through a blood drive and a food drive. But there will also be some more serious moments, like a butterfly release ceremony, honoring the bikers they’ve lost over the years.

The Ladies in Leather parade is about more than music and games; their mission is to honor the memory of female riders who lost their lives in motorcycle accidents with a touching memorial.

“It’s just daily life, you know, people pass, and since we have formed such a tight-knit community amongst ourselves, you know these losses hit us very hard. So, this year is just a way for us to remember those girls who have gone on before us, so we’ve organized a really beautiful butterfly release, and we’ll do a tribute, and we’ll play a video slideshow.” Cohen said.

Cohen said their parade is all about the community. She said they started in 2019, and they have grown since then, starting with a little over 300 ladies participating in the parade, with their biggest event seeing nearly 900 women ride.

“Our biggest accomplishment is just the unity that we achieve; we see women from all ages, backgrounds, races, and professions that come together for the weekend just for a weekend filled with unity. We’ve got girls in their late teens and twenties, and we have women all the way up until their late 80s and early 90’s who come and participate in the parade.”Cohen said.

There will be multiple stunt shows by professional star female riders with performers from all over the U.S.

“We’ve got women that come from all different backgrounds and all different experience levels, so of course we’ll bring in professional entertainers for the motorcycle stunts and things. But some of these women may have been riding as little as six months, and some of them have been riding their entire life.”Cohen said.

She said that this year’s parade will also give back to the community through a blood drive and their “stuff your saddle bags” food drive. Each year, when choosing a new destination, they look for a local food pantry and organize a blood drive, always with the same mission: to help people in need.

“Every girl brings in one or two cans, then by the time we all get together we have a massive donation at the end, and we’ll collect cash donations as well, which our organization will match. We like to leave our community just with a little positivity and let them know we came in, we saw what the town had to offer, we had a great time, but we want to leave a little something behind.” Cohen said.

The event will start on Thursday, September 10, with a kickoff party at copperhead Harley Davidson through Friday, Sept 11th.
