BPS Assures Jakarta Data Security in 2026 Economic Census

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The head of Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, has emphasized the importance of safeguarding data confidentiality for Jakarta residents during the 2026 Economic Census. She assured the public that there is no cause for concern.

Amalia made the statement to journalists while attending the Declaration of the 2026 Economic Census for DKI Jakarta Province at the Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday, July 13, 2026.

She explained that the agency has collaborated with several institutions to fortify security. “[We are partnering with] the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Telkom, and PT Peruri to safeguard the security of the data that will be collected on the BPS server,” Amalia said on Monday.

During her speech at the event, she described the once-in-ten-years economic census as a golden opportunity that serves as a medical record for the economy.

“With this economic ‘medical checkup,’ the policy prescriptions issued by the Governor of Jakarta will be more precise and accurately tailored to the current issues and conditions of Jakarta economy,” she said.

Therefore, she stressed the vital role of public participation to guarantee that the gathered information is correct and accurate. She also urged Jakarta residents to fully cooperate in the upcoming economic census operations conducted by BPS field officers.

“When our census officers arrive, please welcome them, fill out the data accurately, and remember that there is no need to worry about the confidentiality of your information,” she said.

Furthermore, Amalia emphasized that because the economic census serves statistical purposes, individual and personal data confidentiality will be protected. “It will not be used for tax purposes,” she emphasized.

Speaking at the same event, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung also shared his perspective on the matter. He reassured residents that the confidentiality of the census data is guaranteed. “People should not hesitate to report and provide their data, as it reflects themselves and their families,” Pramono said.
