Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia, Ambassador Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari, has formally presented copies of his Letters of Credence to Ikram bin Mohammad Ibrahim, chief of protocol at Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is a step that precedes the formal presentation of his credentials to Malaysia’s head of state, Sultan Ibrahim, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Sulu-Gambari arrived in Kuala Lumpur on July 11 and officially assumed duty two days later, on July 13.

The presentation of a copie d’usage is a standard diplomatic procedure that allows an incoming envoy to begin engaging with the host country’s foreign ministry ahead of the formal accreditation ceremony with the head of state, which typically follows in the weeks ahead.

Sulu-Gambari was among 11 ambassadors and high commissioners-designate who presented Letters of Credence to Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, in Abuja on July 6, ahead of their deployment to various missions abroad.
