Over 40 students at Hong Kong international and local schools have scored the maximum mark of 45 in the 2026 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), with many more achieving high scores of 44 and 43.

Scoring 45 points, the highest possible mark in the IBDP, is a remarkable achievement, especially with over 190,000 students from more than 150 countries taking the exam this year.

The programme is challenging, covering six subjects and extended essays, testing academic knowledge, critical thinking, research skills, and global awareness. requires dedication, time management, and strong intellectual ability. Achieving a score of 7 in all subjects is accomplished by only a small percentage of students worldwide.

As Hong Kong schools announce their results throughout the day, WhichSchoolAdvisor will continue updating this page with the latest perfect scorers and outstanding student achievements.

Also, our live Hong Kong IB Results 2026 table is updated throughout Results Day with the latest confirmed results from international and local schools, including average IB scores, pass rates, top scores and other key performance data as schools publish their results.

The first major Hong Kong results to be announced have come from Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS), which has once again delivered an exceptional set of IB Diploma results.

Three students achieved the maximum 45 points, while the school’s average Diploma score reached 39 points, with almost half of the graduating class scoring 40 points or above.

The school’s perfect scorers were Hilary Li, Austin Shen and Wendy Wang, marking the 13th consecutive year that a CDNIS student has achieved the maximum IB score.

Hilary Li, who will study Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong, said the Diploma Programme taught her invaluable organisational skills.

“The IB helped me develop strong time management skills. Balancing assignments and tests due in the same week with extracurriculars like sports and even my own food Instagram account taught me how to organise my time and make the most of it.”

Future medical student Austin Shen said having a clear goal kept him motivated throughout the programme.

“Having a clear reason for the effort I put in, and a clear goal to work towards, helped me stay motivated and consistent. But it was really the love and support from everyone around me that gave me the confidence to overcome moments of self-doubt.”

Wendy Wang, who also earned the IB Bilingual Diploma before accepting a place on the HKU-PKU Dual Degree Programme in Law, credited resilience and close relationships with her teachers.

“I attribute my achievement to consistent mental resilience throughout the DP, as well as active communication with my teachers. Most of my subjects were essay-heavy, which trained me to sift through dense reading and organise coherent, evidence-based arguments.”

Head of School Dr Tim Kaiser congratulated the graduating class, saying the results reflected not only academic excellence but also the character, resilience and sense of purpose students had developed throughout their IB journey.

The English Schools Foundation (ESF)

The English Schools Foundation (ESF) has also celebrated another exceptional year of IB Diploma results across its seven secondary schools.

A total of 27 students achieved the maximum possible score of 45 points, taking the combined ESF average Diploma score to 36.4 points. Overall, 1,007 students (98.3%) were awarded the IB Diploma, with 31.5% of candidates scoring 40 points or above. Representing one of the largest IB cohorts in Hong Kong, ESF’s Class of 2026 once again demonstrated the strength of the organisation’s IB programme across its network of schools.
